Gratitude and generosity are two sides of the same coin. A table filled with both will be a healthy one.

Fortunately most of us have never faced the kind of suffering that Job faced; unfortunately, though, we all still experience suffering. Rather than try to explain Job’s suffering, Elihu pointed to God’s transcendence as a source of hope.

Ezra was a hero in that he led a couple of revivals encouraging people to turn back to God. But that was just a result (that he really couldn’t control). What might be more praiseworthy was the spiritual passion he demonstrated.

Heroes are not people who never fail, but rather people who, in spite of their shortcomings, sins and mistakes, continue to press on--and are used by God.

One of the prevailing themes of the Bible is God leads and guides His people. The emphasis is not so much on how He does so, yet numerous passages assure us He does so. Look closely--where is God leading you right now?

One interesting thing about heroes is how they come in all shapes and sizes. Sure there are some characteristics that seem to be constantly the same, but God also loves to use people in their uniqueness.

A Hero is someone who not only recognizes the needs a person may have, but also is empathize in their struggle. Is there someone in a pit you are ignoring?

A hero is someone who recognizes needs, accepts responsibility, seizes opportunities, and makes a difference in the story. Esther is one such hero who stepped out of her comfort zone, stepped into the chaos, and stepped up to the challenge.

It's easy to become consumed with having our needs (and wants) taken care of, but we are also responsible for the needs of others. Living the artful life is learning how to use our resources for the greater good.

The Artful Life is about how we deal with one another, our character according to the standards Jesus set for His followers. Wisdom, then, is knowing that what you do is just as important as what you say.
