The Book of Upside Down

Just about everybody is feeling the squeeze of inflation right now, perhaps some more than others.  But it gets us thinking about our money, and how we can make it go further.  For some reason, giving it away doesn't seem like a great approach - but maybe it's a better plan than you think. Sounds upside down, doesn't it!

We're going to talk on Sunday about turning poverty / scarcity upside down as we continue our read through 2 Corinthians.

Last week we talked about the cons and cons of confronting.  Here's the list again.

  • Confront with concern.  Are you genuinely concerned about the well-being of the other person?
  • Confront with congeniality.  How you say it is every bit as important as what you say.
  • Confront with confirmation.  Deal with issues but validate people.
  • Confront with conciliation.  Make the relationship your top priority.
  • Confront with a conversation. Ask. Listen. Learn. And set aside the assumptions.

  • Confront without contrariness.  If you just love a good argument, get a new M.O.  And steer clear of nitpicking.
  • Confront without contention.  Keep the temperature down.  If it turns into a fight, well, you likely failed.
  • Confront without condescension.  Bleed humility.  When you claim the moral high ground at the outset it may not go well.
  • Confront without condemnation.  Truth always needs a good balance of grace.  And then maybe some more grace.
  • Confront without the need to convince.  It is never our job to change anyone.
 Last Sunday's journal prompt:
Think back to a confrontation situation you experienced either as the confronter or the confronted.  Reflect on how it went and what you learned.
